Unclassified (Non-Degree) Student

A non-matriculating student who wishes to complete undergraduate courses during the Spring or Fall semester. Typically students who require completion of prerequisite courses to begin a specific course of study are considered unclassified. Unclassified students do not matriculate into a degree-seeking program. Our Fall application deadline is July 1 and our Spring application deadline is November 1. All items must be received by the noted deadline for admission consideration.

Please noteCredits earned as unclassified students at Howard University will not be considered for transfer admission into the university, for students who eventually would like to earn a degree from the university. We encourage students who would like to eventually matriculate into a degree-seeking program at Howard University to consider taking coursework at another regionally accredited college/university, and then apply for transfer admission consideration once the minimum transfer requirements are satisfied. If you have further questions, please contact us at transfer@howard.edu.
