Visiting Howard University provides students with an opportunity to immerse themselves in the Howard Experience and to interact with our students, faculty and staff. Our campus visit program is designed to provide our guests with information about our wide range of academic programs, the admission process, financial aid, and student life on campus. Our information sessions and campus tours last approximately two hours.

Fall Open House: Thursday, October 19th, 2023

Fall Open House provides students with an immersive experience to be part of the rich legacy at Howard University. At Open House, you and your family will have the opportunity to talk with current students, faculty, staff, and alumni. The program will begin in Burr Gymnasium followed by our HU College Fair. Howard University admission staff will be on hand to answer any questions, guide you through the application process, and help you discover all Howard has to offer. Additionally, our Student Ambassadors will lead guided tours of our beautiful hilltop campus. We welcome all from far and near to experience the Mecca.

We welcome group school and community-based groups to attend this immersive Howard University event. Please ensure that every student attending is individually registered. Chaperones do not need to register. If you have further registration questions, please feel free to email campustours@howard.edu.

Fall 2023 Open House Program

Information Session & Campus Tour for Families/Individuals

Guided campus tours are available Monday through Friday at select times throughout the day. Guests must register for a guided campus tour, as capacity is limited. Click the registration button below to sign up.

NOTE: You may also explore our campus on your own with our Self-Guided Tour Brochure. Howard University is an open campus, so please feel free to access our self-guided resources if a tour date is not available.

Group Tours

Howard University welcomes high schools, community colleges, and other special groups of no more than 55 students to schedule a visit to our beautiful campus. We require groups to provide one (1) chaperone per ten (10) students to ensure effective management of the group.

We offer group visits during the Fall semester at the following times:

Monday through Friday at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

During your visit, your group will be led on a walking tour around campus by one of our Student Ambassadors. While on tour, your group will be provided with information on Howard’s legacy and tradition, academics, housing, and extra-curricular activities. To request a tour for your group, please follow the link below, and we will do our best to honor your requested visit date and time. Our team will reach out to you in 5-8 business days with a confirmation or denial of your group visit.

Please know we have many groups that wish to visit the Mecca so we will do our best to accommodate as many groups as possible.

Bison Scavenger Hunt

Explore Howard with our interactive self-guided scavenger hunt! Our scavenger hunt takes you around our beautiful campus to find places and things on campus in any order you want. Feel free to pull out those smart phone when things become tricky!

Please note that groups are encouraged to divide into teams (no more than 15 per team) in order to complete the scavenger hunt. At the end, our Welcome Center will supply the winning team (no more than 15 per team) with a prize. Prizes are available for the winning team to pick up (no more than 15 per team) Monday-Friday 11am-3pm. Please note that we are closed on weekends, federal holidays, and for university closings.

Schedule Notice

Campus tours and information sessions are suspended on the weekends, federal holidays, and for university closings. In addition, sessions for the fall semester are scheduled beginning the week after Labor Day (September through November). In the spring semester, tours are scheduled mid-January through April. Summer tours are offered early June through late July.
